New DMR Repeater In Wabasso Ready For Action

Minnesota DMR Wabassao

New DMR repeater now on air in central Minnesota

If you live in south central Minnesota, uffda — do we have some good news for you. John Krohm, KB0CGJ, has just put a new dual-mode analog and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) repeater on the air in Wabasso, MN. The new machine gives residents of Redwood County and the surrounding areas a great open DMR repeater. It replaces a D-STAR machine that used to reside at the same site. Perched 160′ AGL atop the Wabasso water tower, the new DMR repeater will provide a 35-mile coverage radius.

We asked John how the DMR scene is looking in central Minnesota.

“Our group is slowly starting to get some DMR radios and the DMR mode is getting a bit more activity,” says John.

The new KB0CGJ machine is a Kenwood commercial repeater using Pi-Star and a STM32_DVM assembly that connects it to the Brandmeister network. (see below for carried talkgroups)

The repeater carries static (always on) talkgroups from around Minnesota and provides access to all Brandmeister talkgroups as dynamic PTT.
